Our central Port Douglas holiday accommodation at Villa San Michele offers some wonderful opportunities to explore Port Douglas food culture first hand. Located in Macrossan Street, where most of the great Port Douglas restaurants are clustered, you just have to step outside our building to find the street a smorgasbord of culinary delights.
Most of them will have some offering from the sea, but you’ll be surprised by the sheer range of style of eateries in Port Douglas. When you wake up and reach for a coffee try Origin Espresso or the Little Larder for a more substantial cooked breakfast. Both of these cafes are very popular and it’s a good thing you can take your selections to go, but a sit down for breakfast, brunch or lunch is deeply satisfying and worth the wait (yes they’re that busy).
Actually our other favourite cafe is the Whileaway Bookshop and Cafe. If you’re in holiday mode, as in read a good book holiday mode then this is the place to spend your mornings with a good coffee and a selection of the latest titles to peruse. Take your time, you’ll be spending the next wee while beside the pool so you better make it a good book.
Dedicated coffee drinkers can make a pilgrimage to Origin Espresso Cafe on Warner Street. Serving beans that have been roasted by the Four Mile Roasters, their coffees are legendary. The Costa Rica single origin coffee is their latest.
