The festival tees off on Friday with a Gourmet Golf Tournament at the Mirage Country Club. Test your metal and wood on 18 holes for the Taste Port Douglas trophy and title of 2016 champion. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments during the day will be served along with a drink at the clubrooms, although you’re very likely to be wolfing the bacon and egg roll down while en route to the green in your cart.

Friday evening has the Big Taste collaborative dinner series that pairs top chefs from Melbourne, Sydney or Queensland to a Port Douglas dinner venue. Each dinner consists of four courses created by the head chef as well as it’s guest chefs. Wines are matched to each course and commentary is provided by a celebrity MC and guest chefs.

The celebration continues on Saturday and Sunday with paid and free events, with the Taste Port Douglas Food and Wine Festival forming the anchoring event during the day. The evenings heat up with with a street food party and night market. Devotees of the Big Taste experience can come back for the Locovore session at the Salsa Bar and Grill.
